Le point focal national RSI pour l’Iraq a notifié à l’OMS de nouveaux cas de choléra confirmés en laboratoire.
 
Au 8 octobre, 1263 cas confirmés en laboratoire dus à Vibrio cholerae 01 avaient été notifiés au total. Au moins 15 gouvernorats du pays sont concernés: Babylone (469 cas), Bagdad (304 cas), Qadissiyah (146 cas), Muthanna (155 cas), Bassora (61 cas), Ouassit (41 cas), Karbala (33 cas), Nadjaf (32 cas), Thi-qar (6 cas), Maïssan (6 cas), Diyala (2 cas), Duhok (2 cas), Arbil (2 cas), Kirkouk (2 cas), Salah al-din (1 cas) et Sulaïmaniyah (1 cas).

Choléra – République-Unie de Tanzanie

Le Ministère de la santé et des affaires sociales de la République Unie de Tanzanie a notifié à l’OMS de nouvelles flambées de choléra dans le pays. Au 13 octobre, 13 régions étaient touchées, à savoir Dar-es-Salaam, Morogoro, Pwani, Kigoma, Kilimanjaro, Iringa, Dodoma, Geita, Mara, Singida, Shinyaga, Mwanza et Zanzibar. Au 19 octobre, le nombre cumulé de cas était de 4835 avec 68 décès. On recense dans la région de Dar-es-Salaam 72% du total des cas notifiés (3460). Zanzibar a signalé 140 cas.

WHO: Cholera Outbreaks Threaten Africa, Mideast

The World Health Organization is stepping up efforts to control multiple cholera outbreaks in Africa and the Middle East to prevent the disease from spreading and threatening the health of thousands of people.
 
More than 10,700 cholera cases and 170 deaths are reported in five countries in the Eastern Mediterranean and African regions, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania.
 
WHO officials say they are alarmed at the prospect of this deadly disease spreading if urgent control measures are not taken.

Iraq faces cholera outbreak and Red Crescent takes several measures to fight it

The Iraqi Ministry of Health has announced that more than 1800 cases of cholera infections have been recorded so far in Baghdad and other Iraqi governorates, among them six fatalities resulting from the disease’s spread. According to the ministry, cholera might have resulted from the scarcity of water in the country, and people relying on wells and polluted water instead to make up for their needs.

Cholera – United Republic of Tanzania

The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW) of the United Republic of Tanzania has notified WHO of new foci of cholera outbreaks in the country. As of 13 October, 13 regions have been affected, namely Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Pwani, Kigoma, Kilimanjaro, Iringa, Dodoma, Geita, Mara, Singida, Shinyaga, Mwanza and Zanzibar. As of 19 October, the cumulative number of cases is 4,835 cases, including 68 deaths. The region of Dar es Salam accounts for 72% of all reported cases (3,460). Zanzibar has reported 140 cases.

Irak: plus de 1 200 cas de choléra recensés

Le nombre de cas confirmés de choléra en Irak s'est élevé à 1 201, a annoncé aujourd'hui le ministère de la Santé, en référence à une épidémie qui s'est déclenchée il y a un mois aux abords de l'Euphrate. "Au 7 octobre 2015, il y a 1.201 cas confirmés", a indiqué dans un communiqué le ministère de la Santé, précisant que la majorité des personnes touchées avaient été guéries.
