UAE-wide measles immunisation programme raises questions

DUBAI // Parents say they are confused about a national immunisation programme to have 1.5 million children and teenagers inoculated against measles.
 
On November 1, the Ministry of Health is launching the National Campaign for Vaccination against Measles for everyone aged between 1 and 18. Many older children have already been vaccinated.
 
The MMR – or measles, mumps and rubella – vaccine is usually given to infants in two doses. In the UAE, the first MMR shot is given at 15 months, followed by a second at 6 years.

One in eight children under the age of 17 is susceptible to the disease and would likely get sick if exposed to the dangerous virus, researchers from Emory University in Atlanta reported Thursday.

90 cas de tuberculose à la Médina : La population demande des centres de dépistage

Le taux des malades atteints de tuberculose semblent élevés à la Médina. Le dernier bilan relève 90 nouveaux cas de la maladie soit une augmentation de 42%. Et pour les raisons de cette forte prévalence, Mouhamadou Ly, le médecin chef du district sud,  d’indiquer que « la Médina concentre le plus grand taux, parce qu’il y a beaucoup de problèmes pathologiques, surtout la tuberculose.
