Online Member Registration Opens for the International Association of Immunization Managers (IAIM)

Individuals interested to join the new association can now register on the IAIM website

 

WASHINGTON, D.C.—August 12, 2013—The International Association of Immunization Managers (IAIM) has opened its online member registration. IAIM, the first-ever international association for immunization managers, invites immunization managers at national and subnational levels in all countries, working in either the public or private sector, to join as members.  Membership is also open to other health professionals working in the field of immunization, or to professionals who are interested in the field of immunization. Individuals interested in becoming members should complete a brief registration process on the IAIM website.

Interested individuals may register as either Immunization Manager Members or Associate Members. Immunization Manager membership is open to current and former immunization managers. Immunization Manager Members will receive free registration at IAIM conferences and regional meetings, opportunities to improve management and leadership skills through training and networking with peers, access to website content and voting rights. Immunization Manager Members who are currently immunization managers will also have the opportunity to participate in IAIM peer-to-peer exchanges and will be eligible to hold office.

Associate Membership is open to other individuals who have an interest in advancing immunization programs. This may include, but is not limited to, professionals such as nurses, epidemiologists, health economists, statisticians, cold chain technicians, pharmacists and vaccine researchers. Associate Members will receive free registration at IAIM Conferences and Regional Meetings, opportunities to improve their management and leadership skills through training and networking with peers and access to website content. All prospective members may sign up for a thirty-day free trial membership.

On the recently launched IAIM website, association members can connect, share best practices in immunization program management, engage in discussions with their peers and experts in the field, search for information on vaccine-preventable diseases and licensed vaccines, and find upcoming immunization events and current immunization news.

IAIM’s goal is to support immunization managers and other professionals to achieve national, regional and international immunization goals, including those in the Global Vaccine Action Plan (GVAP), by fostering forward-thinking and superior management of immunization programs. Its objectives are to establish a forum from which immunization managers can discuss and exchange best practices; build and support international and regional networks of immunization managers; and provide immunization managers with opportunities to develop their technical and leadership capacity. IAIM is supported by a five-year grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The Association has a governing body known as the Governing Council, which is composed of individuals from around the world who are either current immunization managers or who have relevant leadership experience in immunization. The Sabin Vaccine Institute serves as the Secretariat for IAIM and is responsible for executing its day-to-day operations.
