Bluetooth-enabled insulin pen is world's first

German diabetes specialist Emperra has launched the first wireless insulin pen that transfers data to a patient’s blood glucose diary via Bluetooth. The CE-marked device is launching in Germany with an eye toward an FDA approval in 2016.

The pen, called Esysta, gives patients and doctors the ability to map out blood glucose levels and dosing regimens in real time either in person or from remote locations without multiple connections.
