Tick population growth causes problems


July 31, 2013 -- The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Tuesday that Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses are increasing due to a rise in the tick population.

The summer months are usually the time when tick-borne illnesses like Lyme disease begin to rise. The increased tick population this year is expected to lead to more than 300,000 illnesses in humans and pets.
